Huub (Humberto) de Bruijn is a singer, accordionist, and pianist based in the Netherlands. He specializes in several musical genres, including: Tango, Argentine Folk Music, Opera, Musical Theater, and Art Song.
Huub began developing his musical talents from a young age at the music school in Hilvarenbeek. He studied accordion with Peter Comperen, and then piano with Johan Koch. In 1997, Huub had a six-month residency at the Conservatory in Tilburg under the tutelage of Ronald van Overbruggen. In 2002, with the help of the Flemish bayanist An Raskin, he transitioned from the piano accordion to the button accordion. Around the age of twenty-four, Huub rediscovered his passion for singing. He devoted his time to more fully developing his deep baritone voice, training with Marlies van Woerkum (2006-2008) and Harry Ruijl (2008-2012), teacher at the Tilburg Conservatory.
Beginning in 2011, Huub started taking singing and interpretation lessons and performed in masterclasses for various musicians, in the field of tango and Argentine folk music, such as: Maria José Ortiz, Anabella Zoch, Nilda Godoy, Miriam García, Juan Carlos Tajes, Guillermo Rozenthuler, and Alejandro Guyot. Huub studied piano and arrangement with tango pianist Wim Warman, teacher at the Rotterdam Conservatory. Huub travels to Argentina annually to continue his studies and keep up to date with current musical trends and developments.
Huub has performed with several groups, including: the Samenwerkingsverband Brabantse Openluchttheaters (SBO), Apollo ’77, the Filiassi theater group, Het Skomorovsky Orchestra, La Ocasión, Bikse Opera, and the KlarinetNsemble. Together with opera singer Lizet van Beek, Huub played with De Kleine Scala in theaters and festivals around the Netherlands and various European countries. He sang in 'El Bar de Julio,' 'El Faro,' and at the 'Festival de Tango de Valentín Alsina' in Buenos Aires. He has also sung in collaboration with tango guitarists Moscato Luna, Cacho Hussein, Lucio Arce, Juan Villarreal, and Leandro Nikitoff. Huub has been featured on Argentine radio and television.

In this passionate Argentine tango program, Huub sings with his warm and captivating voice about lost loves, vanished neighborhoods, and torn lives. These same themes resonate in Tim's guitar as he accompanies Huub with his original arrangements and exquisite guitar solos. In addition to tangos, valses, and milongas, this performance includes a selection of works from the Argentine folk repertoire.

Huub collaborates with various tango musicians both in the Netherlands and in Argentina. These tango line-ups can take different forms, combining Huub’s singing voice with a guitarist, a bandonionist, a pianist, or a trio to form an Orquesta Típica. In this sensational program, singer, Huub de Bruijn and guitarist, Tim Panman, take you to Argentina to experience the diverse landscapes the country has to offer through its music. Traverse the blistering heat and drought at the foot of the Andes with chacarera and the Argentine zamba. Revel in the rippling rivers of the subtropics with chamamé. Admire the lush, yet rustic expanse of the pampa with milonga campera.
This excursion comes alive with Tim’s skillful guitar-playing and Humberto’s warm singing voice. For a few compositions, two wonderfully blended voices enhance the musical experience while being accompanied by Tim’s guitar arrangements and Huub's percussion-playing on the bombo legüero and the caja chayera. The songs are complemented by theatrical storytelling and humor which will escort you on your journey through the enchanting Argentine landscape
Together with lyrical singer, Lizet van Beek, Huub performs De Kleine Scala, a humorous Dutch interpretation of Giuseppe Verdi’s famous opera “La Traviata.” The show includes several arias that narrate the highs and lows of Violetta's life, which is told in a comical and fast-paced way.
The act is accompanied by the accordion with musical material from the opera. In addition to its original Dutch-language version, the performance can be conducted in English, French, German, Spanish, or Italian
As a bass-baritone, Huub’s opera voice affords beautiful theatrical interpretations of classic works, which may be arranged upon inquiry. Huub has interpreted works by famous composers such as: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, George Bizet, and Giuseppe Verdi, among others.
